Group 4: Ocean Acidification, Natalie Weaver, Walt Wynkoop, Sofia Soderberg

Carbon dioxide levels are increasing because of global warming and increased use of fossil fuels which as a result contributes to ocean acidification. Computer algorithms predict that the increase in acidity will occur much faster than anyone will be able to counteract if we do not take measures to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions now. One of the biggest concerns of this rising level on the environment is the devastating impacts it has on marine habitats, specifically on coral. In efforts to combat the issue, little public exposure is one of the biggest hurdles that we need to overcome. There is only a small number of actual studies that are presented to the public, and to fully combat this issue before it becomes irreversible increasing public awareness is essential.
